Financial software maker Intuit is now accepting pre-orders for a $30 mobile EMV reader ahead of the October liability shift to Europay, MasterCard and Visa standards.
What the hell is this? A new "law" slipped under our noses? International law, it seems...

So, we are getting about 3 1/2 months notice to change to a new technology platform -- Europay.
Funny, my phone company just did the same thing -- render a fully-functioning technology obsolete.
Apparently, stuff is not supposed to work at all, much less correctly.
Sure, you can buy a $30 dongle for your smartphone, but I'm sure the real cost to real businesses will be real high. The guys that run the show are real good at shaking down the rubes.
